Very attractive hand-colored map of Texas, New Mexico and Indian Territory, with inset of Galveston from the 1873 edition of Francis Mc Nally's Improved System of Geography.
This almost 150 year old map map came from an actual school book used in "common schools", as the secondary public education schools were known in the second half of the 19th Century. Amazingly, these were hand-colored, and McNally's have unusually bright coloring, and a distinctive title, with a flourish. It is normal for pages from these schoolbooks to have some smudges, drawings, stains, pencil marks, and the like, but this one is unusually clean.
